SAFETY

TIPS

When you ride safely, scooters can be a fun way to get around. Whether you’re a veteran or beginner, you can always improve your scooter riding skills. So scoot smart and watch these tips and tricks. Together we can keep everyone safe on and around our roads.

CLOTHING & HELMET

It’s important to wear a helmet and clothes that help drivers see you. Wear reflective clothing at night and bright clothing during the day. Wearing a helmet when available is highly encouraged. Since helmets are not provided as part of scooter rideshare, plan ahead and bring your own. Helmets save lives.

INSPECT SCOOTER

Always inspect your scooter before riding. Make sure the brakes, wheels and handlebars work properly.

OBEY TRAFFIC LAWS

When riding a scooter you should obey all traffic laws. Stop at stop signs and yield to pedestrians.

RIDE ALERT

Don’t let distractions cut your ride short. Road obstructions are inevitable, so keep an eye out and ride predictably.

PARK RESPONSIBLY

Be courteous when you are parking a dockless e-scooter. You can park between the sidewalk and the curb as long as it is not adjacent to:

  • A bike rack
  • A lamp post, or other street pole
  • UTA bus stop sign
  • On the sidewalk where it will impede ADA access and the general flow of people

You cannot park:

  • Within 50 feet of a GREENbike station
  • At a UTA bus or TRAX stop/station
  • In parking spots dedicated to cars

DRIVERS SAFETY

Drivers: Keep an eye out for scooter riders and treat them like you would cyclists on the road. When passing, give riders a minimum of three feet.
